Start your career in law right here. Experience life at CMS during our one-week programme, putting yourself in a strong position to be fast-tracked to an assessment day for a training contract.

About the insight programme

Applications will open on Friday 29 Jan 2027 and close on Monday 8 Feb 2027.

If you’re interested in a career in law and want to know what life is really like at a global law firm, researching online is one thing. Trying it for yourself is completely different – and that’s the purpose of this programme.

Whatever your background, the programme’s blend of practical work experience, skills sessions, trainee shadowing and networking will build your knowledge and your contacts in equal measure. You’ll be invited to social events, lunches and coffee networking, where you’ll meet people from across the firm.

Complete the one-week programme and you could be fast-tracked to an assessment day for a training contract. We will be running the Insight Programme 2027 from 24–28 May 2027 in Scotland.

What to expect

The Insight Programme gives anyone interested in a career in law information and insights about what life is like working at CMS.

Skills sessions

Improve your presentation and networking skills and get an introduction to the business of law.

A buddy and mentor

Get ongoing support for the duration of the programme and beyond.

Practical and social

Gain practical insights into how a global law firm works and build your network of contacts with invites to social events.

Fast tracked

Successful completion of this programme may get you fast-tracked to an assessment day for a training contract.

Financial support

All participants will be paid in line with the National Living Wage. We don't usually provide support for travel, but we're happy to discuss options on a case-by-case basis, so please contact EmergingTalent@cms-cmno.com before applying. Unfortunately, we can't provide support for accommodation.

What you'll need to apply

We’re looking for people who are motivated, curious and ready to take ownership of their development. Beyond that, you’ll need to meet the following criteria:

Penultimate year non-law students can apply for the programme in an English location
