Off the job training

Off-the-job training is essential for evaluating an apprentice’s progress from their initial skills and knowledge to their achievements throughout the apprenticeship. It measures how apprentices advance and what they can now accomplish as a result of their training and experience. Each apprenticeship requires a minimum of 6 hours of off-the-job training per week.

Examples of Off-the-Job Training

  • Theoretical Learning: Lectures, role playing, simulation exercises, online learning, and manufacturer training.
  • Practical Training: Shadowing, mentoring, industry visits, seminars, networking events, and practicing tasks.
  • Learning Support: Time spent writing assessments and assignments.
